This is to the moderators, or the Brains of the Operation.

Okay, if I personally own the copyright to something, can I post it to IA?

My husband and I own the rights to his music from an album (CD) he did back in 2002. I am going to be making music videos (all images are either from stock footage found here or video I personally shot myself) and would like to know if I can post the videos on IA.

I just don't want to break any rules.

Thanks!

Lynn

Are you sure you want to dedicate your copyrights to the public domain? I think they have different levels of licences on the uploader. I think you can set certain restrictions on commercial use of your material.

Yes, choose the Creative Commons attribution you desire. This is the license that creators like myself are using here. It's certainly worth considering, when you upload Your Items.

Creative Commons AttributionYou [any library patron] must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author [Lynn, or myself] or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).

• Generally speaking, I have stipulated ONE Restriction for my work - non-commercial use only. There are some items I created and uploaded to The Archive that fit this model. However, I have also created Items on The Archive for other people. I recently created This Item for Chicago Independent Media Center. In this case, it was attributed to "Universal" - Public Domain Dedication.

• I have many Audio Items here in several collections. Many of My Items are very old live music tape recordings that I taped. For all of these, I stipulate TWO Restrictions - 1) non-commercial use only; 2) no modifications of my work
